My Story.

My name is Barbie and I want to tell you the story behind BB Home Enhancements. Our growing family needed more space so we embarked on the task of finding a larger house. My husband hoped we would find a perfect ready to move in home but no such luck for this picky girl! We struck gold with an outdated home that contained all the space we dreamed of. So we set off to transform our ugly duckling into a swan. The biggest challenge... was me.

We moved in and just lived in our space for several months developing plans for our home's transformation. The longer I thought, the more the ideas flowed, and the more intricate they became. I knew I wanted certain things like faux beams in very specific distresses and colors, but I did not want to pay the higher prices. That's where MY transformation began into what my family refers to as "Barb Vila."

Using my math skills from years as a teacher I started slowly designing and sketching every inch of our space. With the purchase of a circular saw and a nail gun, I hit the ground running. We started with planking our porch ceiling, which turned out great! I couldn't stop and felt exhilarated every time I took on a new project and watched my visions come to life. Now the list includes built-in shelves, planked walls, headboards, leaning mirrors, faux beams, mural paintings and on and on. Two years later, and a garage filled with fun tools, here I am designing and building pieces for my home, as well as family and friends.

I never intended to take this path but I'm so happy I followed it. Now I'm able to extend my creativity further and help others create the pieces they have always wanted too. Take a look around my site and get inspired. Contact me and we can collaborate together to bring your visions to life

My Home Transformation.

I strongly believe that a home should be a personal sanctuary that comforts you when you arrive. Ours is still transforming into our tranquil sanctuary, but I have enjoyed every minute of watching my visions come to life in each space.

And AFTER - I put all this together, but I specifically made the beam, the headboard, the wall trim and the picture over the bed Finished Master Bedroom Finished Master Bathroom - The handmade shelves I built specially for this space and stained to blend with the tile floors. Finished Kid's Bathroom - The shelves were hand built and stained in a lighter grain to keep the space bright. Also all my interior doors are painted this same soft blue shown to provide a cohesive flow throughout the house. Finished Guest Bedroom Finished Guest Bathroom - An extension of the neutral guest room with finishing touches designed and built by me. Garage after reorganization - Painted in a calming blue, I built the garage shelf system to provide ample storage for our various sports equipment. All shelving was stained to match the workbench on the opposite side. Custom made shoe racks mounted off the ground. Pool after a good cleaning

Homemade Decor.

Every piece is hand painted or drawn based on the decor of the room it is being displayed. Any item can be modified with colors, staining, and distressing. Some pieces are currently hanging on my own walls while some were made at clients' requests. Check out the samples below.

Refreshed Furniture

These furniture pieces were refreshed based on clients' wishes. As always, everything is custom designed to your desire. Some items are refreshed with a simple painting while others are transformed with new add-ons.

This side table was refinished and rebuilt with a new modern style square top with a functional full sliding drawer added to the front.

Builds by "Barb Vila".

These pieces all began as fresh pine wood purchased from the lumber yard. After sketching, designing and planning they are all built and finished to personal preference. Wood washing, coloring, staining and distressing can all be customized to your needs.
